Alain Clark
Dutch-Aruban singer, songwriter and record producer Alain Clark has built a career defined by timeless soul, sophisticated pop songwriting and unmistakable musicianship. The son of Dutch soul singer Dane Clark, frontman of Dane and the Dukes of Soul, Alain began releasing music with his self-titled 2004 debut, featuring the hit “Heerlijk.” He also established himself behind the scenes, writing and producing for artists including Ali B, Simon and Men2B, as well as the television programs Idols and Popstars: The Rivals, and earned his first No. 1 single with “Bigger Than That.” His breakthrough came with 2007’s Live It Out, his first English-language album, which sold nearly 200,000 copies and featured legendary drummer Steve Gadd. The album produced four Top 10 singles, led by “Father & Friend,” his enduring duet with his father, and earned Clark three 3FM Awards—for Best Male Singer, Best Newcomer and Best Single. His follow-up, Colorblind, debuted at No. 1 and went double platinum, further cementing his place among the Netherlands’ most successful recording artists. His accolades also include an Edison Award for Best Male Artist and the prestigious Silver Harp.
Now based between the Netherlands and Los Angeles, Clark has performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival and Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw, while sharing stages with Amy Winehouse, Lenny Kravitz, Diana Ross and Bryan Adams. In 2025, he made his Coachella debut with a surprise performance of “If I Go” on the Sahara Stage. His recent music draws an even more direct line between his European success and the American soul tradition that shaped him: “Pressed Out Emotions” was recorded in Los Angeles with Pino Palladino on bass and James Gadson—the legendary drummer whose unmistakable pocket powered some of Bill Withers’ greatest recordings. Across a catalog that also includes Generation Love Revival, Walk With Me, Bad Therapy and Sunday Afternoon, Clark continues to blend infectious pop melodies, rich vocal harmonies and deeply rooted R&B into music that feels both timeless and distinctly his own.
